Dear Soccer Parents and Guardians,
Well this was definitely not the 2020 soccer season that anyone expected. We hope that all of our Dorchester families are well and continue to stay healthy during these times.
Dorchester Soccer Club has been monitoring the developments surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic in regards to local and provincial regulations and restrictions from government health officials. We received notice last week that the city-wide recreational leagues were cancelling their season for U12 and up and that many clubs in our area followed suit for the younger age groups as well. At this time, recreation facilities remain closed and a re-opening timeline is currently unknown.
In order to keep our players, our volunteers and all soccer families safe, the Dorchester Soccer Club executive has made the very difficult decision to cancel all recreational soccer activities for the 2020 season. Due to the uncertainty with Covid-19 and what guidelines may be required in returning to minor sport, we made our decision with everyone’s safety in mind.
At this point, Ontario Soccer and EMSA have not made a decision regarding return to play for competitive soccer, so we will continue to wait until a final decision is made regarding the competitive league, which will likely be into June.
Please note, we are working diligently to ensure all registered players receive their refund in a timely manner. However, we are working with our vendor SportsEngine who processes the refunds, so we ask for your patience during this process. All families will receive a full refund applied to the credit card they used to register. We will keep you updated on when you can expect your refund as soon as we understand the timing.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to an executive member. Our contacts/emails can be found at the following link:
